Application of Road Markings

Road marking is a fast growing industry due to the infrastructure development of most countries. Development countries capture the largest share of the global road marking market. Increasing investments by foreign companies and rise in the standard of living are other major factors for the growth of the road marking market.

Road marking project mainly exists in in these construction projects: highway, airport, urban road and parking lots.

Highway construction: Markings on the highway are a major element in the traffic control system. Pavement markings serve a variety of functions, including: lane definition, separation of opposing flows, passing control, lane usage and designation, pedestrian crosswalks, stop lines, parking areas, word messages.

Urban road construction: Urban road marking mainly consists of street marking and residential area marking. The functions and operations are similar with highway marking. However, the scope of construction is limited in urban road construction project, so hand push road marking machine is the common used equipment.

Airport marking is projected to be the fastest-growing application of the road marking market, both in terms of value and volume. Airport markings include marking lines and rubber removal services on runways and taxiways in large and small airports (both commercial and privately owned). Thermoplastics, cold plastics, polyurethane, and epoxy-based paints are commonly used for airport marking application.

Parking lots: It is also used to mark spaces in parking lots or special purpose spaces for disabled parking, loading zones, or time-restricted parking areas. Colors for these applications vary by locality.

Roadsky Traffic Control Devices

Traffic control devices are widely used for regulating the traffic on the roads and bring about a sense of awareness among pedestrians and vehicle users about road safety rules. They are mainly used to alert about dangers, to inform about route diversions, to announce directions, so on and so forth.

The most common traffic control devices are: traffic signs, speed bumps, traffic cones, markings on road surfaces and traffic cones etc.

Road Signs

Traffic signs are quite commonly used to control road traffic and can be used for three main purposes - to regulate traffic, to warn users about something or to pass on general information. Regulatory road signs help road users understand the prevailing traffic laws and regulations of a particular country. Warning signs help the general public about danger-prone areas so that they can stay away from them. General information signs have been designed to provide directions or guidance for users who are not sure of their destinations.

Speed bumps

Rubber speed bumps with reflective yellow stripes will alert you when you have to slow down your driving speed. They are usually installed in special areas such as school, hospital, wich will help you driving carefully. They can be highly visible during the night hours and bad weather.

Markings on road surfaces

Usually made in bright and hugely-visible colours, these markings are in the form of drawings, objects or reflector units in order to highlight important/prohibited/danger areas on the road so that users can move around accordingly. All of these together, are aimed at improving road safety awareness among the users and to reduce the number of accidents that happen on a daily basis. With reflective and neon shades, these markings are designed in such a way that they are easily visible during the night hours as well, thereby helping drivers to calm down and regulate their driving.

Traffic cones

Traffic cones come in various shapes and patterns. Therefore, they can be used at many places like indoors, outdoors, highways, narrow roads, freeways and the like. Roadsky can custom-make traffic cones as per your requirements, so you get the desired size to fit them in any area of your choice. They also come in different colours in various countries and can be used with or without neon additives to make them more visible during night hours.

All of these traffic control devices are aimed at providing ultimate safety to pedestrians and vehicle users while on the road. There are various ways in which of these devices are manifested on the roads every day. Roadsky Traffic Safety Rubber Speed Bumps Advantages

When you are driving, you need to be alert always as a small mistake from your side can lead to fatal accidents. There are few traffic calming devices that help you to focus on your driving and make you drive in a careful way. Speed bumps are one of them.

Commonly known as speed breakers, these devices alert you when you have to slow down your driving skills. These bumps are installed on key areas on the road to let you know that you have to calm down while driving. These bumps come in various types; however the ones made from rubber seem to have a lot more advantages than the ones made from other materials.

1. Cost Effective

Speed bumps that are made from asphalt, metal, concrete or plastic are quite costly and can burn a big hole in your pocket, when you install them in the long roads that lead to your property. When you want to buy speed bumps in bulk, rubber is the most preferred material as it is reasonably priced. One speed bump costs just a little over $100, which is quite a convincing reason as to why you need to buy them.

2. Installation process

Unlike metal or plastic speed bumps, rubber speed breaks are very easy to install. They can be dismantled with the same ease as well. On an average, it takes just about 45minutes to one hour to install a rubber speed bump. This makes it one of the most flexible materials to be used in case of an emergency. These rubber speed breakers can be taken from one place to another quite easily for installation.

3. Eco-friendly

Since rubber speed bumps are made from recycle tyres, they are quite eco-friendly. Other materials like metal, plastic and asphalt make use of chemicals like petroleum, which are not safe for the environment.  Rubber bumps are very durable and sturdy as they are made from tyres that have stood the test of time and faced various climatic conditions.

4. Suits all roads

 Rubber Speed Bump

One of the best things about rubber speed bumps is that it can be used for all kinds of road surfaces. This makes it one of the cost-effective brands available in the industry today because you don't have to invest in different types of models for different roads in your area. Asphalt and other materials need different coats and polishing over it to make them suitable for the roads that they are installed in. When you use rubber speed bumps, you can save yourself from spending these extra costs on polishes and coatings.

5. High Visibility

Rubber speed bumps, when given reflective yellow stripes, become highly visible during the night hours, thereby helping you to drive safely and carefully. Since they are sturdy, they can stand all kinds of climate and are highly reliable in cases of tricky roads, rough terrains, uneven roads and the like.

Traffic Control Devices: Cones and Speed Bumps

According to the institute of traffic engineers, traffic bumps are one of the most effective traffic calming tools and since time in memorial they have been used on our roads. Driving on an obstacle at speed is not only annoying and jarring, but also damaging your tires. Most of the common speed bumps are made from asphalt and are usually installed by the local government. Due to technological advances, manufacturers have come up with rubber speed bumps.

Traffic speed bumps, also called as speed breakers, speed bumps and road humps, help in controlling the speed of vehicles and stops people who drives their on high speed. There are so many people who do the same while they drive their vehicles they forgot the rules of traffic and face so many problems. Accident occurs due to people who don't want to follow the traffic rules or they don't know the rules. Suppose if there are no speed bumps on road or traffic rule then so many accident will happen, maybe we have to survive for it.

traffic speed bumps

Speed bumps are made of concert, asphalt, rubber and plastic. Removable speed bumps are perfect for situations where there are temporary needs for reducing the speed of vehicles.

Various types of traffic control devices:

traffic control cones

1. Traffic cones - The most basic of all traffic control devices, the traffic cone is made out of bright orange PVC material. Cones are used to control the flow of traffic simply and effectively with the least amount of prep time. Easily prevent accidents with traffic cones kept in the back of your car in case of emergency.

2. Traffic barrels - Just as basic as traffic cones, but in a much bigger form, the traffic barrel are primarily used to keep motorists and pedestrians out of heavy construction zones during repaving or other road work. Barrels are much sturdier that cones as they weigh 25 lbs.

3. Traffic barricades - Along with traffic barrels, traffic barricades are an extremely visible and effective way to control traffic. Traffic barricades usually have reflective coating to allow easy viewing during the night.

4. Pavement marking tapes - A removable polymer tape to help show the outline of traffic flow in work zones at night. It's perfect for areas where removal is absolutely necessary after construction is complete.

5. Speed bumps - Usually made out of rubber, speed bumps physically slow down cars in areas where high speeds are not acceptable. They are perfect in work zones with high levels of traffic and in parking lots.

6. Vertical panel - Available with rubber base, these traffic control devices are extremely durable to weather and impact, all stacking neatly while not in active use.

Importance of speed humps

1. Speed humps are traffic calming device which plays a vital role in safely slowing the speed of a vehicle. These are rounded raised areas placed across the road way and are good for locations where very low speed is desired.

2. They are not just the most common and efficient way of reducing the speed of vehicles but they can be strategically placed on the streets to make convenient walkways for the people.

3. They are placed on the roads that are across residential or school areas where high-speed driving can result to dangerous accidents. To avoid any accidents, these are placed on the road to break the speed of any vehicle up to 90% and making it safe for the people to walk around the road.

4. In a way it acts as sleeping policeman who works like a traffic policeman to slow down the speed of a vehicle and save our lives.

5. High-tech world has not left anything untouched and same goes for speed humps also. Conventional concrete and asphalt humps are being replaced by rubber, heavy duty steel, rubber cable protector and many other advance materials for high durability and safety. Rubber is preferred over conventional material for its durability, sturdiness, high-visibility and cost-effectiveness.

6. They can't be created by anyone as it is a product of tough engineering. Every manufacturer of these traffic calming devices have to meet the standards drawn by government to maintain the quality of the product.

The Use of Traffic Cones and Lane Separator

When you are driving, you can always see the traffic cones and lane separators in the roadside. Do you know what are the use of them?

Generally, traffic cones are used in construction or damaged places on streets for road safety. They are designed to help you see what has happened on the road to help you keep yourself from getting in accidents, particularly when the road is being repaired. They can be used to keep parking space or area instead of parking space lock.

Nowadays, the traffic cones are usually made of PVC materials. The PVC cones have advantages of environmental protection and long life span.

The cones are are normally colored fluorescent orange and white. Those colors are used simply because they offer higher visibility. Sometimes, the white part is replaced with reflective film to improve the visibility in night. In some countries, the cones are equipped with led flashing lights in the head to improve the safety.

Lane separator is a special road safety product, which consists of rubber base, reflective film and flexible plastic flag. It is mainly placed along road sides or edges of the middle line to indicate the direction of the road and prevent the traffic hazards such as creasing etc. Since the flag with reflective film is just facing the drive direction of the vehicle, so it can be easily caught by drivers in night and rainy days.

The flag is made of high elasticity engineering plastic which can be quickly restitution after vehicle collision.

Cast Aluminum Road Studs Installation Tips

There are two type of Aluminum road studs: Full cast aluminum and shell cast aluminum. Full cast aluminum road stud is completely made of aluminum for high compressive strength. It is generally used in the double yellow lines of the road. Shell cast aluminum road stud means only the shell is cast aluminum and the insider will be filled with sand or any other materials. The compressive strength is lower than full cast aluminum, but the price is much cheaper.

Aluminum road reflectors with glass beads are widely used in the middle east area. The installation of aluminum road studs is not complex, but there are many details that matter the usage life of the studs.

Before installation, the most important thing is to place the construction signs. No matter the road is in construction or in use.

Then determine the installation location, make sure the installation position is smooth. Otherwise, the uneven stress will break the studs in a few weeks.

Then use a brush to clean the road to ensure the installation location is clean and dry enough. These matter the firmness of the aluminum road reflectors. If the road is not clean, the dust will disturb the glue adhesion.

Evenly put appropriate amount of glue on the road studs. No more or less
Press the road studs firmly at the mounting location and ensure that the direction is correct.

If the studs have anchor, dig a hole which is 1 cm deeper than the anchor. The diameter of the hole also need to be 2mm wider than the anchor.

After the installation is complete, check all the road studs in two hours to see whether they are installed correctly. Four hours after the installation, remove the construction signs.

8 Quick Tips About Guardrail Installation

Before installation:

1. Review the guardrail plans

Before guardrail installation, check the guardrail plans. Make sure the current standard road plans match the date listed in the project plans.

2. Guardrail Beam Check

Check the guardrail beam specification such as two wave guardrails. Make sure the guardrail match your country's standard.

3. Guardrail Accessories Check

Check whether the bolts and nuts match the guardrails beam. Make sure the posts and spacer blocks match the guardrail beam, also check whether they are galvanized.

4. Installation Location Related Checks

Make sure the installation line is correctly located for the type of guardrail, w-beam, thrie-beam, or cable. The offset distances must be correct for face of guardrail location from the installation line.

When installing:

5. Guardrail Installation Machine Check:

Make sure the guardrail pile driver works properly.

6. The Guardrail Location Check

Are posts and guardrail located correctly? The rail/cable height need to be according to height specified in the Standard Road Plans. (ie: 31 inches for w-beam and 32 inches for thrie-beam). Make sure the post spaced correctly.

7. Guardrail Post Plumb Check

The guardrail posts need to be reasonably plumb. So when using guardrail pile drivers, make sure the hammer accurate match the post shape. (Such as C channel post and round channel post).

8. Traffic Marker Related Checks

You also need to check whether the object markers, delineators, and associated hardware installed correctly?

Think Doing Traffic Equipment Business? Read This Article!

It is well known that traffic accidents are of high importance to the public health spectrum around the world. Statistics show that far more people are injured or die in traffic accidents than are afflicted by any of the most serious diseases. So a variety of traffic safety equipment take place in preventing traffic accidents.

Guardrails

Guardrails are mainly installed in highway and secondary road to prevent the vehicle from running out of the road. The most common type of guardrails are W beam galvanized guardrails.

Reflective Road Marking

Road marking with reflective glass beads is another way for road traffic safety. When a car's headline beam shines on a striping which integrates glass beads, the striping seems to light up and gets much better visible at night. It is an effective method to prevent night traffic accidents.

Road Studs

Like reflective road marking, the road studs with reflectors is also an important part of road traffic safety. In nighttime, it is necessary to provide the guide for drivers along dark roads. Some new design of cat's eye also uses LEDs which flash at about 100 times per second.

Speed Bumps

As a method for lowering the speed of motor vehicles along specific street sections, speed bumps and speed humps are widely used in residential streets and parking lots etc.

Traffic Cones

Traffic cones are typically used outdoors during road work or other situations requiring traffic redirection or advance warning of hazards or dangers, or the prevention of traffic. Traffic cones with reflective film is a great method to increase visibility for night use or low-light situations. On occasion, traffic cones may also be fitted with flashing lights for the same reason.

Safety Vest

Safety Vests are mainly used by road maintenance workers. The safety vests have reflective film which can be highly visible in low-light situations and catch the drivers' attention. Some countries require that the drivers must have reflective safety vests in their vehicles.

Convex Mirrors

Acrylic convex traffic mirrors can provide more than 160-degree viewing angle to help reduce traffic accidents in curves, cross roads and etc.
